A company born from the combination of ArcelorMittal, the largest steel group in the world present in 61 countries, and Bekaert, the world’s largest wire producer with a presence in more than 120 countries, Belgo is a specialist in quality wires and offers a mix of products that include:

Belgo Bekaert Arames operates in the Agribusiness, Fencing, Civil Construction, Automotive, Welding, Special Applications and Oil Industry segments, maintaining competitive technology and sustainability in each stage of its production to ensure the maximum performance of its customers’ business.

Currently, Belgo Bekaert Arames has 7 units, responsible for offering innovative solutions in the wire and other derivatives market, located in Contagem and Sabará, in Minas Gerais; Osasco and Hortolândia, in São Paulo; and Feira de Santana, Bahia.

BMB – Belgo Mineira Bekaert, belonging to the same group and responsible for offering innovative solutions in the wire market for steel cord and bead wire, has 3 units located in Itaúna and Vespasiano, in Minas Gerais; and Sumaré, in São Paulo.

1958

First steps: start-up of the Contagem plant, at the time called Cia Siderúrgica Belgo-Mineira. – Transfer of João Monlevade’s drawing equipment to Contagem.

1968

ACSR: technical assistance contract signed between Companhia Siderúrgica Belgo Mineira and Bekaert to manufacture heavy galvanized wire.

1971

Technology transfer from Bekaert to Belgo for the manufacture of Motto® Barbed Wire.

1975

BMB- Belgo Mineira Bekaert: creation of the first joint venture between Belgo-Mineira, today, ArcelorMittal and Bekaert, in Vespasiano, for the production of Steel Cord.

1991

Transfer of Jossan S.A. from Natal – RN to Feira de Santana – BA., Today Belgo Bekaert Nordeste.

1993

Technical assistance contract signed between Companhia Siderúrgica Belgo Mineira and Bekaert for technology transfer in wire production.

1994

Bekaert acquires an 18% stake in CIMAF (steel cable factory).

1996

BMB – Belgo Mineira Bekaert: startup of the Itaúna plant to produce steel cord strings (reinforcement of passenger car tires).

1997

Belgo Bekaert Arames: formation of the second joint venture between Companhia Siderúrgica Belgo Mineira, now ArcelorMittal, and Bekaert for the manufacture of wires (including Hortolândia, Osasco, Contagem, Sabará and Feira de Santana).

2000

Cimaf was divided into a wire factory (BBA Osasco) and a cable factory (Cimaf Cabos).

2001

Start-up of the Fencing Systems factory in Contagem.

2004

Jossan S.A. becomes Belgo Bekaert Nordeste S.A.

2005

Beginning of the expansion program of Belgo Bekaert Nordeste in Bahia – BBN FAI – Protected Wire Factory.

2015

Inauguration of the new prestressed factory in Osasco, São Paulo.

2017

Incorporation of the BMB Sumaré factory in São Paulo.

2018

Expansion of the BMB Itaúna plant begins.
